The Office of University Communications leads efforts to promote UCI’s mission, priorities and values; raise awareness of its achievements, accomplishments and cultural events; and increase the involvement and support of its internal and external communities through regular communications to target audiences. Through partnerships with campus units designed to maximize university resources, University Communications spearheads an integrated strategic communications effort involving media relations, institutional communications, Web services and visual communications, as well as UC Irvine Health Affairs marketing and communications.
Media Relations identifies high-impact news stories on UC Irvine research, education, personalities and events, and places them in regional, national and global media. Through tipsheets, media advisories and an online database, media relations staff connects reporters with UCI experts in areas of current news interest to enhance UCI’s visibility. Media relations staff also provides editorial and writing assistance to the university, and represents university administration and faculty members as spokespersons.
