The University Research Park attracts businesses to Irvine and Orange County that want to access the resources of a major research university and form strategic partnerships. Most of the companies in the URP focus on emerging growth technologies, such as biotechnology, medical devices, computer hardware and software, communications, electronics, pharmaceutical development, and other high-tech based industries. URP companies interact with UCI’s academic programs, enhance the region’s reputation as a center for advanced technology, and contribute to an educated workforce.

Collaborative opportunities exist in many areas of the university. These opportunities may include:
  • joint research projects and consulting with talented faculty
  • licensing UCI-owned technologies
  • student recruitment and internships
  • shared equipment and testing facilities with UCI
  • student support through fellowships and scholarships
  • onsite employee training and certification programs
  • executive education
  • academic unit corporate affiliate programs
  • recreational, athletic, and arts events
  • sponsorship of academic seminars and symposia
The campus-like setting has facilities for research and development, professional offices, light manufacturing, and corporate business headquarters. The park offers flexible building design, build-to-suit, and leasing opportunities including multiple tenant buildings with office suites from 2,000 square feet.

The URP is centrally located with close proximity to the Orange County (John Wayne) Airport and access to major highways.

The park offers:
  • 185 acres adjacent to UC Irvine
  • 2.4 million square feet of research, technology and business space
  • 40 buildings at buildout
  • Currently, there are 35 tenant corporations in addition to faculty start-up companies and UCI-affiliated offices.
