Peter’s Parade, Wednesday’s portion of Student Center celebration postponed
 
EVENT:

Due to the Southern California regional wildfires and related weather conditions, events scheduled on Wednesday, Oct. 24 for the Student Center Grand Reopening Celebration have been postponed. Peter’s Parade will be held during UCI’s Homecoming Week in February 2008.

Events on Thursday and Friday will be held as announced in the media advisory distributed Oct. 22.

Thursday, Oct. 25

  • 11 a.m.-1 p.m.: A UCI “Spirit Day” will include a pep rally for UCI athletics teams and a comedy routine by two UCI alums, Pari Mathur and Harvin Sethi, who have performed standup comedy at the Hollywood Laugh Factory.
  • 7-10 p.m.: Student bands will compete for the title of “Band of the Year” during “Antstock ’07.”


Friday, Oct. 26

  • 7-11 p.m.: “Shocktoberfest 2007,” a Halloween festival hosted by the Associated Students of UCI, will include live hip-hop music at the corner of West Peltason and Pereira Drives, and carnival games and booths on the Student Center terrace.
  • 11 p.m.-1 a.m.: The Student Center ballroom will turn into a dance club during “Aftershock,” the official “Shocktoberfest” after party.
DATE: Thursday, October 25, 2007
TIME: Continues through Friday, Oct. 26.
LOCATION: Student Center (Bldg. 113).
 
BACKGROUND:

With almost 290,000 square feet of space, the UCI Student Center is 50 percent larger than its predecessor. Construction lasted more than two years on the center which is meant to be a gathering place where students can eat, shop, surf the Web, watch TV and study. The Student Center has two food courts, a convenience store, a pub and a ballroom big enough to accommodate 1,110 people for conferences, receptions and other large gatherings.
