Web giants including Google, Microsoft vie for Yahoo

April 2008

“In media discussions over potential mergers, what has gone unnoticed is how the digital giants have sought to use antitrust law, investigation and enforcement as competitive weapons against their rivals.” — Richard McKenzie

Richard McKenzie is an authority on antitrust and economic policy issues as well as monopolies and digital economics. He can discuss the antitrust and fair-competition implications of potential mergers or partnerships between Yahoo and Google or Microsoft. McKenzie is an author and professor of economics and public policy at UC Irvine’s Paul Merage School of Business and is a nationally recognized expert on the Microsoft antitrust case. His latest book, In Defense of Monopoly, challenges the common notion that all monopolies are inherently detrimental to consumers and economic markets and argues that a certain degree of monopoly helps spur healthy competitive innovation. Contact McKenzie at 949-463-2604 or e-mail mckenzie@uci.edu.
